Rennsport Reunion - Worth It?
I just read the post by our Pelican leader and it got me thinking about a potential roadtrip out to Monterrey from Denver in the Carrera (think mountain passes in the fall). But before I start booking reservations is the reunion a once in a lifetime must see or should I pass? For someone who has been to the previous reunions can you provide some insight? I have been to the Monterrey classics once before and was blown away...will rennsport be the same...
Thanks, Sam Also - any accommodation recommendations in Monterrey (I stayed at the Marriott last time and it was crap and expensive) |

I attended the 2007 event and it is absolutely worth it. If you enjoy vintage racing Porsches, then there is no other event in the world that can compare.

Is it going to happen?? If so, when?
I was at the last one in Daytona and thought it was great. A must see for a Porsche guy.

Is it worth it? Hell YES!
Especially when it involves an 1.5 hour drive and not a 5 hour flight.

I went to the one at The Glen in 97 or 98. It was worth it even though my starter went and I had to jump start the car the whole time.

There have only been Three RennSport Reunions ( I have been to all 3) 01 @ Lime Rock, 04 & 07 @ Daytona. They were all Great.
I think the gathering @ the Glen was a Brian Redman deal that was not an authorized Porsche event |

Looks like it's going to be a long road trip from Ohio. Need to start planning now, anybody else in for a Ohio caravan?

Made My Reservations
It looks like many of the hotels (Embassy Suites, etc.) are already booked...found a decent deal at the La Quinta in Monterey. If anyone else is interested in a Colorado caravan let me know and we can get started with a plan to venture out west.

Oh heck, Grady, I'd drive from Oregon, pick you up and then do an about-face, and drive to the Reunion! Of course, the conversation would start like this:
"Grady! So good to meet you in person! Hop in, let's hit the road. Seatbelt secure? Good. Now. TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW!!!" LOL Of course, to get to the bottom of your well of knowledge, I might have to circumnavigate the earth a few times.! ![]() angela

Between the stories and the knowledge, it would be a pleasure to be trapped in a Porsche with Grady for a long road trip.

Grady - thanks for the offer and I would truly enjoy picking your brain some more, but my father will be riding shotgun with me...this is one way I was able to "sell" the trip to my wife (we are having our second child which is due in June...so time is precious) as it would be a memorable father/son trip and we get to see tons of Porsche's to boot.
I imagine that there will be enough Colorado locals who would go that would have some room in their ride for you...we should bring this up at our regional PCA meeting. |

I was at the 2007 one too, only through another opportunity. It was really something, seeing all those cars that you've probably only heard about and seen in pictures, right in front of you. Now that it's in my own state, I'm definitely hoping that I'll have some time to make the drive up there. By the way, it's in Monterey. Monterrey is in Mexico.

When I was in the market for a Porsche I went to Lime Rock in 01. As a noobie it was like Porsche overload. I took a lot of pics maybe 75+. Stood with Haywood and Penske saw all those historical cars on the track and the tent full from the homeland. It was easy as I am only an hour and a half from LRP.
It was great to see every flavor of Porsche available, took a few more years before I got mine. But having Rennesport as a living catalog to help my decision. I'm not working these days so maybe a west trip would be in order, would not be in the SC cause the wife would only go in her car. But life is full of compromises. I put it on the calender and passed it by the wife and YES it would be worth the road trip and the show. Terry
