Yea, I should be out getting drunk at some Halloween party, but I'm not really into that. Sooo.....

I had been trying to convert my license plate lights to LED's. Today, I bought two 10mm LED's and got one soldered up this evening (after my nap ). I had made a prototype earlier in the week.





Not as bright as the incandescent, but I think I can make it a little brighter, tweaking the resistor value a bit. I can always add one or two 5mm LED's to each side later.

I still have not had a chance to really see them in the dark. The pics were taken in my garage area and the garage lights did not let the LEDs do there thing. I'll be able to check them tonight.

Only other LED mod was for my Porsche key.

I have had an idea to try and convert the brake lights and parking lights as well, but that is more complicated.

Yup, I've had that switch in a couple of cars... set-up to cut-out all rear lights,

Switch #2 was a 3 position for the brake lights.
Middle for normal, down for no brake lights, and up for brake lights on... that one works wonders for tail gaters!!

I'm working on a command actuated euro rear fog light....

tailgater get too close > hit the rear fog light and all the tailgater sees is big red light

Here's the word on the LEDs. They are not anywhere as bright as the OEM bulbs. California law says that the lights must be white, but does not say how bright. I guess I still am in compliance. They light up the numbers, but they are not bright enough to illuminate the tags. I think they added about 2.5 HP though.
