There's Walker, Texas Ranger, and Walker, Seattle Wrencher. Only one can make an MFI pump weep. ;)

Or was it the two kids in Taledaga nites?

dtw 11-09-2007 12:49 PM

I'd back off the pre-tension on the Flangeister valve (obviously on the driver side only).

PS, Next time forego the drama and send a PM...

John Walker works out on a Celette Bench.

I just want to know how the man can repair Porsches, make decent scotch AND answer complex suspension modification questions online. How does he find the time while keeping a trim figure to boot?

FinallyGotOne 11-09-2007 01:38 PM

man you guys are really funny!! \
I ask for ony John WALKER and i get 25 of you knuckleheads and no JW. Amusing. Though i have to comment on the originality and humopr in these posts, always good to get the weekend off with a laugh. Thanks to all of you guys for the info, and advice. Now i have a question again,

why are you all so into corner balancing? For a daily driver that maintains under 100mph most of the time and no corkscrew turns then why am i so concerned about the corner balancing?
This car drove very very well when it was just lowered and aligned proper. Though the bottoming out was no good, it stayed very true straight on the hiways. Now it does not want to do that any longer and the strut inserts are all I changed. The alignment must have somehow whacked out a bit. I'm taking it Tuesday morning to the alignment gods AND AT LEAST THEY ARE GONNA CHECK IT OUT. SHOULD I open the strut housing back up and cut that bump stop? Makes no sens that the previous owner would have done that as the car was sitting at like 26 inches or something at the fenders but maybethat shoudl be cut now that I have had the car lowered. yes or no. Or will i just bottom out then?

Superman 11-09-2007 01:49 PM

If you changed the strut inserts, then you changed camber. Camber change is typically what causes a car to veer one way or the other.

It depends on how low the car is. If these cars are lowered enough, then those bump stops will be in the way of shock travel.

My front axle weight is about 800 lbs. If my corners were out of balance by, say, 80 lbs (one weighed 480 and the other weighed 320), then one side would weight 1.5 times the weight on the other side. front brakes are important. In the situation I just described, the car would not brake in a straight line, and one side would be ready for more effective braking action, but would be tharted by the other side sliding instead of braking. Stopping distance would suffer, along with straightness.

When I got my 911 it would easily lock the right front brake all the time. I rebuilt the brake system and I still had the problem.

I corner balanced the car and it went away.

Gotta laugh.... I was just reading the thread about how nice people are on this board. Tooo funny!

This thread made me think of a bumper sticker I saw the other day. It said, "If you don't know what you are doing, please don't."

jetkona 11-09-2007 04:02 PM

Will the REAL John Walker please stand up?

We're just making fun of your stupid post. John Walker has an email you can reach him at if you're only looking for his answer.

Scooter 11-09-2007 04:15 PM

I have it on good word that John is very busy today and probably has not been online. He does have a day job you know. ;)

JABSEA 11-09-2007 04:34 PM

John Walker recommended Tru-Line Frame & Wheel to me for alignment issues.

One day you should start a thread titled "don't read this!", sure way to maximize the views ;-)

On cars where the ride height can be adjusted it's very important to set this properly. Otherwise you will shift weight to one diagonal of the car. So for instance your left front tire and the right rear tire will see more wheel load, while the right front tire and the left rear tire will be unloaded. The more wheel load there is on a tire the more side force it can ultimately transmit, but even well below the limit different wheel loads mean different slip angles are needed to generate the same side force. As these differences are across the diagonal the result is now a asymmetric behavior. Or simply put, it's the difference between the laser sharp handling of a proper 911 and the stability of a wacked out shopping cart.

Do that. And make sure the alignment gods know what they're doing, a 911 is not as easy as other cars to set up. If they don't have scales, walk away. If they've never worked on a 911 with torsion bars, walk away. Good luck.

Lyrics by Sheena Easton, modified by Mark

For Johns Walkers eyes only, can see me through the night.
For Johns Walkers eyes only I never need to hide.
You can see so much in me, so much in me that's new.
For John Walkers Eyes Only.

I never felt until I looked at you.
For Johns Walkers eyes only, only for you.
You'll see what no-one else can see, and now I'm breaking free.
For Johns Walkers eyes only, only for you.
The love I know you need in me, the fantasy you've freed in me.
Only for you, only for you.

For Johns Walkers eyes only, the nights are never cold.
You really know me, that's all I need to know.
Maybe I'm an open book because I know you're mine.
But you won't need to read between the lines.

For Johns Walkers eyes only, only for you.
You see what no-one else can see, and now I'm breaking free.
For Johns Walkers eyes only, only for you.
The passions that collide in me, the wild abandoned side of me.
Only for you, for Johns Walkers eyes only.
