Hole in Heater Pipes

What's this?

I took out my heater hoses and pipes when I had to put in a new sound/heat shield. I realized that deleating the heater in Chicago is not a good idea. As I put it back in I noticed this hole. What's if for?

This is an '84 Carrera.

A nylon ring-style fastener that secures the cruise control cable clips into that hole. Do you have a cruise control? I can't see it in that picture, but the cable should be routed across the general vicinity of that hole and the fastener keeps it from flopping around and causing mayhem.

Thanks Spin. I didn't bother putting the cruise back in. I'd rather be stepping on the gas then letting cruise control do it.
