How about looking out the windshield and all you can see between the fenders is the road?

I think the best part of owning a Porsche is being in front of some smart ass who thinks he can beat you.

well besides driving it..cruising in 2nd gear about 4000rpm and nailing it...plus being able to accelerate through corners instead of slowing down, having an american "muscle car" pull up next to you and pull away from it...like the old saying "there is no substitute"...could go on and on....

PWS(Porsche Withdraw Syndrome)...oh wait, the best part? PWS is really getting to me... I'd say the best part about owning it is 3rd gear on an empty freeway. There's also the music of the flat 6, along with what everyone else has said.

Owning something you've dreamed of having since you were 12 years old. Makes me feel like a kid again

The looks, the sound, the driving experience, the history, the internet activity around Porsches etc. etc.
It's a dream come true for me. |
Thinking that I'm never going to sell it (them) and that I'm still gonna love it (them) ten or even 20 or more years down the road. Knowing that even if one gets written off, the parts can still be used on another. "ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM"

I'd have to agree with the guy who said the fact that you have been dreaming of this car since you were 5 (in may case anyways). These are pieces of engineering artwork and are perhaps one of the most coveted cars ever created to date. How may people do you know would LOVE to have a Porsche (the 911 more specifically)? You, we, make up a small percentage of the population who is fortunate enough to be driving the car of our dreams (and other peoples dreams). I hate to sound tacky, but "There is no Substitute" for a 911. Enjoy the driving!!!

THe whole package
From closing the door with a solid quality thunk to turning the unique left hand race inspired key switch The wurr of the Flat 6 motor with everything in the car built like a fine watch Driving it with the ultimate in road feel and view, hit some bumps and no rattles or squeaks from 30 year old cars, having all controls designed for easy reach in addition to the Big Tach right in your face in the middle with the Orange needles lets you know this car is made for "Drivers" Jeff 78SC |
The quirkiness, the slight eccentricity, the uniqueness of design, the sound and personality of an exotic without the baggage associated with an exotic, I personally am biased towards the early S cars - classic & chromey, and they look 'cute and innocent' compared to the later models until you see and hear one unleashed (evil grin).

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women.
That, and everything north of 4000 RPM. |
emcon5. Nice Genghis Khan / Conan quotation! And a great answer. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif

Sitting in the seat and turning the key. That sound, theres only one Porsche.
After being without for eight years. I test drove a car for a friend. Tail out in the first 90 degree corner. She asked " is it supposed to sound like that? " My bank account was screwed again. Just finished setting up my 77 Carrera. Now I'm looking to build an 79-83SC rally car to run Historic class SCCA Pro Rally. They really slide good in the dirt. ------------------ Cary Kutter 77 Carrera w/3.2 Rennlist #001117-2266 PCA Region - Big Sky |
