Belt tension question???
Hi guys,
I need some help tensioning an alternator belt. I have a '77 911s, and I am trying to change the belt according to the instructions in the 101 projects book. My problem is that I only had 4 shims on the inside, and none on the outside of the pulley. Also when I try to put the shims on the inside they don't fit inside the pulley as you can see in the pic. ![]() ![]() Do I have the wrong pulley? Or the wrong shims? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - arnold |

Hmmm Looks Strange, my 85 pulley comes apart so the shims can be placed in front of the have or back of it to adjust to the thickness of the V-Belt.
Go to the Porsche AG Catalog for your year, it will have an exploded view of the pulley. Remember the 1/2" play in the middle of the fan whn installed ![]() Best wishes,

HI arnold
The PO has put some cam spacer shims in the fan pulley to adjust the belt , this is why the shim will not fit in the pulley outer. regards mike
