Belt tension question???

Hi guys,

I need some help tensioning an alternator belt. I have a '77 911s, and I am trying to change the belt according to the instructions in the 101 projects book.
My problem is that I only had 4 shims on the inside, and none on the outside of the pulley. Also when I try to put the shims on the inside they don't fit inside the pulley as you can see in the pic.

Do I have the wrong pulley? Or the wrong shims? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

- arnold

Hmmm Looks Strange, my 85 pulley comes apart so the shims can be placed in front of the have or back of it to adjust to the thickness of the V-Belt.

Go to the Porsche AG Catalog for your year, it will have an exploded view of the pulley.

Remember the 1/2" play in the middle of the fan whn installed

Best wishes,

HI arnold
The PO has put some cam spacer shims in the fan pulley to adjust the belt , this is why the shim will not fit in the pulley outer.
