Searching for MId9 Webmaster

The '74-77 mid-year 911 owners group site has been up for over a year now and attracted 200+ members to date. We're at www.mid9.net We're looking for a volunteer webmaster to handle updates and forums (as needed). The ideal candidate will be a computer oriented person with enthusisum for the middies and a desire to get involved with a really cool site where like-year owners can compare issues, share stories and experience or simply show off their mid-year rides. The compensation is the satisfaction of working with great people from all around the world who believe in the mid-year 911's.

It all started right here on Pelican and remains linked and loyal to Pelican Parts.

Pm me and I'll hook you up with the people who can share the details about what's involved.
The task shouldn't impose too much on the individual's time.

Comments and/or suggestions are welcomed right here anytime!

A great candidate spoke up from across the pond, so stayed tuned. MID9 will soar again!

Whatever happened to the Mid9 website (http://www.mid9.net/)? Is it still without a host or is it just plain defunct?

Morning Matt,

I've working (casually) to get us a new web-master. There are well over 150 middies signed up but the original site and list were hacked and lost apparently. We're just without a host to date. I had an e-conversation going with a fella in the UK who said he had the experience and desire to take it on but never followed up. I was thinking about asking Wayne if we couldn't have a slot on Pelican just for Middies (their values and interests have been on the grow lately)

Are you considering another mid-year car? Looks like you're an active trader and interested in these (transition year 911's)...

If you or anyone else can help us get the group going again we're looking. Wish I had the skills but....

Check out this video on my UTUBE site; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCNEP7reZBA

Number 1 and 2 Mid9ers are no longer driving middies and no longer active...

Donny,

Nice video - I sure wish we had great driving stretches like that around here in northern Indiana. It's almost completely flat here, so we don't get those kind of vistas or curves. Most of our country roads are "grids" and the freezing/thawing process gives our asphalt more craters than the Sea of Tranquility.

Yes, I am intertested in a midyear targa actually. I have owned 3 911's, but never a middie. To be truthful, I am intested in backdating a midyear car to an early-look. The middies still have the narrow rear fenders (which I prefer) and the later middies were galvanized which helps a lot against our old enemy Rusty McRotten. First, however, I need to sell my '89 Carrera.

As for the Mid9 site, have you considered using a free host like Yahoo's "Geocities" (http://geocities.yahoo.com) or similar? The free service would force you to use a slightly different name like http://www.geocities.com/mid9 (fyi, I checked and that name is available), but it would still turn up in a yahoo or google search and members could put a link to the correct address in their Pelican signatures. Just an idea. If I end up getting a midyear car and you still need help, I might we willing to work on it.

Thanks Matt. And good luck finding the right car to back date. I'll look at the Geocities site but we just opened talks with SCWDP to perhaps them set up and host it for us. Looking at all options.

Thanks again

Just checking back in now that I have purchased my '77 Targa. Any developments with the mid9 web hosting situation?

Matt,

Thank you for your continued interest. Yes, there is some progress... "Shane" aka: V8Ranch (here on Pelican) and also keeper of the SCWDP site has expressed a willingness to help re-setup and host the Mid9 site for us. This is a very generous offer and may take a little time but at least there is some interest and some action. I'm excited to see us getting cranked back up and hopefully planning some meets/drives/events to generate a broader participation.
Back dating a middie is a fairly popular approach. The lighter weight middies and relatively inexpensive cars and parts still out there make it fun and more affordable than many mods being done today. Got a picture?
