How to polish chrome to glassy smooth?

I've (laboriously) "un-painted" my chrome trim pieces on the 911 exposing the original chrome finish. Everything is in overall good shape but there are some areas of scratching on the piece surrounding the vent window. Is there an easy way to polish this up and make it mirror smooth or is chrome plating too hard? It's not so bad that I can't live with it, but I'd prefer to make the pieces as perfect as possible. Thanks.
