Picked up some parts and tools for my 71

I picked up a few things for my 71 roller. I sure hope I can make this stuff fit. I picked up some aluminum control arms, but I'm not sure what year they came off of. I hope I can make them workhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1195956153.jpg

I also picked up this engine stand with the cheaper flat adapter. It even came with a motor.:)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1195956387.jpg
There sure are a lot of loose wires comming off that thing. I hope I can get it to work. Looks like the brain has been sent in for something. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1195956494.jpg

I havent moved the roller in two years so hopefully this will get me motivated. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1195956870.jpg

I still have some things to do on my 73. I should just drive the boxster.

What color is that roller? Looks interesting if it is original. Looking forward to watching your project...keep posting progress here and that will motivate you to keep it moving. Best...

Great score on that 3.2. If I lived closer I would have bid on it myself. Did you buy the 915 the guy had for sale as well? It had the bell housing already cut for the flywheel sensors.

You might want to try and locate a rear shock tower cross member for 72' and up cars. It will have the correct geometry for the aluminum trailing arms. If not you might want to just stick with your 71' rear control arms. There's really nothing wrong with the steel ones. They're just a little heavier but not much.

I didn't buy the 915. I'll be needing one though. I really wasn't planning on buying the control arms but you know how that goes. The problem with my steel arms are they don't have the sway bar mounts. I guess I could look into the ones that mount to the bolt on the swing arms. I wasn't aware that their was a difference. Do they rub or will they just not work? I'm not afraid of using a hammer to make some adjustments.

Has anyone tried to use a 901 with a 3.2? I have one of those.

The original color is a gold metalic. I will be doing a color change. I havn't decieded on the color yet.

I think Sherwood wrote an article some years ago that details all the changes for the Al arms on the earlier cars - no biggie on a '71.
