Porsche Crest Heizungseinrichtung/ heater-blower on my 911 from 67'?

I would be happy to know what kind of heater my 911 from 1967 had?
911~~S66
I have seen some blank, so I gather this one might have had a gas heater in it or maybe a blower fan?

Thanks for your input!
Steffen

Steffen,

I think that squiggly line is actually a "W" for "Webasto." But check a 912 data plate to be sure it's not there.

I believe all factory heaters were Webasto only the earliest of the 911's had AEG heaters they are pretty much identical to the Webasto's

Gas heaters were optional in those days, not standard. They fit inside the compartment above and behind the fuel tank. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity would list all the options on your car as it left the factory.

Interesting, I never heard of anything other than a Webasto being used. Of course, VW used Eberspaecher in this period.

The gas heater was standard in the early years and optional in later ones.

Here's a 912 VIN tag showing what happens when it's NOT fitted.

On The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity there is no heater.
Strange if it had one according to the plate!
Can't see any signs of a heater either, looks clean, I do however have two extra holes on the dash next to the hazard light knob.
In one I fitted the optional fog light w/ old switch + knob.

Not really strange, my COA doesn't list a Webasto either, but the car has one. The only time it would be listed on COA would be in later years, like say 1972, if it were specified as an option. By that time, they were no longer standard, like they were in (I believe) 64-67.

Porsche Crest Plate ID

Interesting that they didn't write it!
I had a look @ the Porsche parts CD I have.
What I can see is that the Webasto had a blower engine from AEG and then later one from Bosch.
So from the info. I have until today it looks as if the car had a heater.
John, you think it was standard in 67' for US sold cars?

The Webasto was standard on the 67S, however I have the original German Kardex for 3 of my 67S's, and all 3 have the Webasto listed, and it also includes the Webasto serial number.

regards,
Eric

what's it look like?

uh, ok, don't want to appear dense, but I'll go out and check my 67 normale for the heater....but I don't know what I'm looking for though! where would I look, and what sort of controls might I find inside the cabin?

I'm still lost........
I had a look in my owners manual and it says "optional" and I don't have it in my COA either.
From the above I now think it had a webasto due to the inscript ~~66 S
There are no signs of any heater to be seen, vent behind front seats has a cover and in the smuggler box the connection has a rubber lid on it. Vent connection for dash also closed.

My '68 911 has the "911 S 66" stamp on the aluminum plate as well, but has never had a gas heater in it. I recall reading in one of the 911 books I have that this just means it has the standard heater in the car. I'll see if I find the reference and check back in.

Mike

Mike, my '68 VIN is 11830172, 69 less than yours!

And, my '68 does not and looks like it never had the gas heater installed in it. Smuggler's box is empty, except for a CA black plate I found in there after I bought the car. I'd like to find a fresh air blower to mount in there.

I'll try to check the VIN plate and report back.
