Wevo Guide Tube "upgrade" help

I dropped the engine/tranny from my RS clone for some much needed R&R of various leaks and when I separated the transmission from the engine discovered I had one of the 72/73 915's with no removable guide tube. I know Wevo sells a repair/fabrication to make this function like a later guide tube in terms of replacing the main shaft seal. I do have a moderate leak as evidenced by pretty heavy goop in the housing but does not appear to have yet affected the clutch (will be inspecting it soon). The tranny is otherwise fantastic with very smooth shifting, PO had it worked over with new syncros etc several years ago. It also has an original LSD and has airport gearing which works well at most tracks.
So....I want to get the Wevo work done...but not sure how much to ship to them. I have not done any transmission work before. I have read a number of the big rebuild threads on here and am still confused on how easy it would be to pull the nose off and remove the gear stacks...but then I have been scared a bit by the work neccesary if I remove the diff. and just send the rest of the case? Can you guys help with what I need to do ? Anybody who has had the work done let me know.

wevo will probably suggest an east coast rebuilder like Gary Fairbanks.

otherwise i don't see an install problem that any 915 rebuilder can't deal with.

So Gary Fairbanks can access Wevo's guide tube solution and install it?

Gary has a very respected reputation country wide. Respected even by other 915 rebuilders.

Ron, does Gary have a different fix for the 72/73 non-removable guide tube or does he use Wevo's solution ? Has anybody on here had Gary do this fix?
