Red on the flywheel. Nothing on the PP. Do a search on the cross shaft-much discussion on what should be used.

there is I think some good Wurth stuff for the shaft and splines... I didn't use it and should have looked into it more at the time - there are threads out there with info.

Not necessary to use red Loctite 274 on the flywheel screws. And you can reuse them if the triple square/XZN heads are still tight & clean.

The factory appeared to use a copper antiseize on the input shaft splines. I believe the Porsche spec'd type of lube is Optimoly HT

The long debated cross shaft lubricant for the factory style, goofy little needle casing bearings is called Olista Longtime 3 EP. It's made by Castrol.

Here's the factory tech bulletin that specs what grease to use. G50 Cross-shaft Update

I found some information which also states Mobil Mobilux 3 is an alternative to Olista Longtime 3.

I stumbled across another product called Dow Corning 1292 Long Life Bearing Grease that seems to work pretty well too. I found this by doing some research for an alternative to the Olista product, which I found hard to find back in 2000. I've since experimented with some other grease to see how it stacks up to the Dow 1292. Last spring I put some Mobil XHP220 industrial grease in one of the cross shaft bearings to see how it fares. I'll be taking the engine out soon and I can see how it held up to about 4000 miles of use with a high effort clutch and track abuse.

Bosch grease is also said to be a good use for these shaft bearings. I think this grease is also what the steering rack on our cars is originally equipped. That stuff lasts a long time. But once it goes, it's gone and dry. I relubed my rack with an off the shelf wheel bearing grease and I suspect that was a mistake because steering effort has been high ever since.
