Wow!

boba 05-30-2008 11:14 AM

Is that fan shroud a "new product" or a one off? Looks nice.

eimkeith 05-30-2008 11:42 AM

new product. want one?

rennch 05-30-2008 03:35 PM

You guys should really think about going into another business. You don't really have the hang of this "fabrication" thing. Such sloppy work.

Mega ;)

ischmitz 06-02-2008 01:23 PM

Keith, you might want to talk to this guy (in case you missed that on the off-topic)....!! http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/30/lithuanian-builds-car-from-polyurethane-foam/

eimkeith 06-02-2008 01:35 PM

lol - he's got the blue construction foam in there, too....

I'm digging the rear of the car, but something terrible happened to the front.

We'll only be using the foam and goop to make the positive shape to create our mold from. Then it will be removed from the car and replaced with a proper cast wing.

Thanks for the link, though, I love that stuff!

ischmitz 06-02-2008 03:23 PM

Keith, I agree 100%. But you got to give him kudos for skill. I don't like the front either but overall he did a pretty respectable job IMHO....

Just be careful with solvents around that car. And God forbid he'll ever have a an eletrical fire

juicersr 06-02-2008 05:18 PM

Lookin good. That lithuanian dude is a hardcore masochist... i used small amounts of that inslulating foam for small details. cant image doing the majority of the car with it. too hard to shape. The hard part of this stuff is getting the shape smooth, with lotsa coats of fast-dry plaster.

Wow! I agree with that to 200%. But tugly. And those wheels... Either they're like 42" or Lithuanians are short. I didn't know Pirelli or any major tire manufacturer made tires that big. They look something like 475/12 ZR 42's.

Yikes

ok, the shape is finalized (on the left side, lol) :D

after we finalize the right-hand wing section, we'll coat the foam with a paint barrier, then a release agent, then we'll create FG molds from the positive.

we'll make the final product in FG and will install on the car, then the car goes off to the paint shop.

THEN we assemble the car.

In the meantime, we're building a 3.8 w/PMOs for this thing. Should be pretty cool.

mjshira 06-06-2008 06:13 AM

automotive artwork, very cool! keep it coming. Should be nice and toasty in the shop during the day now ;-) so the stuff should dry pretty quickly when you're working with it.

eimkeith 06-06-2008 07:06 AM

still sorting that part! let me get the first run in and I'll come back w/pricing...

lateapex911 06-06-2008 08:30 AM

Great stuff Keith!

I'm about to embark on making a mold for an air dam that has gone out of production. I have a new one, and will use that as the plug. I'd love to watch your process here, and would be interested to see and know what products you will be using. It's been a few years since I dabbled in this.

This is another interesting project you have, love the diary and pics! Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Here is the updated version of the wing. Still needs some more tweaking but getting very close.

If anyone needs some sheet rock work I might be willing to do moonlighting.

Fantastic!!! Looks great!

What hubs are you going to run on that car? :)

Cheers

barney911rs 06-12-2008 02:46 PM

might as well hand hammer something out of a block of aluminum or titanium. Keith is developing mad skills. :)

av winans 06-12-2008 07:07 PM

Jeff, I'm hoping that the customer will go for some center lock hubs coming to market real soon "PCA Parade soon".

If he sticks with a five bolt setup maybe some forged 17" 3 pieces fuch wheels.

mjshira 06-12-2008 07:08 PM

hmmm, sounds very evil... (and expensive)
