Door triger pull?

Hi all,
I'm getting a little concerned about the increasing amount of pull presser I need to apply to the door trigger latches on my 3.2 , I have had the doors apart and lubed the inside mec parts, with white spray grease, but over about 12 months they are getting harder and harder. I ended up having to replace one of the trigger's and they are not cheep! is this a case of dismantling the doors again? or can I try some thing els
Thanks Steve.

Best way is to dismantle the doors and then remove the handles and inspect the action.

I suspect that as you are now in the UK you may have some corrosion within the door handle itself.

You can test the action of the handle when its removed if it feels free, then you need to look within the door cavity for the rods and mechanism that actions the door latch (from the door trigger handle it pushes the mechanism into action......)it may be bound up or even fouling on something. The first time I re assembled my doors I found that one was binding up within the door cavity......

Good Luck.

Just spraying lube at it only delays the inevitable. Pull it apart and clean thoroughly and then lube properly.

Unfortunately, the trigger wears out where the roll pin fits, and the Tasker replacement part was not well made and is now NLA. I had purchased it back in 2009 to repair my worn out one. Fortunately I was able to repair mine with a little work and parts of both original and poorly made replacement. I posted a review to the part.

I had a similar issue: SC Door Handle Stuck!
If you look at the picture in this thread, post #2 (RE: 80 SC Passenger Door Handle Repair) you'll see a good picture of the mechanism. There is a bolt which can be over-tightened during assembly. If you overtighten it, there will be more effort to open the latch and sometimes it won't return after being pulled.

Once you get the handle mechanism out of the car door, its not too hard to work on. Let me know if you get stuck and I can provide some pictures or more info.

PS. Ask around for a used trigger - a generous Pelican sold me his old unused trigger parts very affordably.

No link since our host doesn't carry them, but there is a rather pricey aftermarket trigger only on the market - $80ea. Has anyone else tried this option? My driver's side is a pain to open, so I'll be needing to get in there and do some repairs soon.

Thanks,
I have had the doors apart several times over the last 3 years to address the window mounting rails, replaced, don't ever want to do any of that again. Also I had to replace one of the trigers, thats not to hard. So it looks like I'm going in again. The biggest pain in the ass is the very short wires that hook up to the window switches, they are a pig to get back on..
Steve.

Yeah man I hear you, those window switch wires suck balls.

I have made a special little holder so they stay in the correct configuration. and then use a plastic fuel line crimper to hold them out to reconnect to the switch.

A smart man(not me) would lengthen them slightly..........
