Post Yet another cup wheel question

Due to the vibration in the steering wheel around 100 km/h with the new wheels I'm going to have them balanced while on the car.

I thought that this would probably solve the problem, but now my collegue who's a mechanic claims that it will not be a perfect solution. According to him the wheels are in great danger of coming out of balance as soon as I accelerate or brake hard. Can that really be correct?

Anybody out there with experiences or general knowledge?

I'm being annoyed by this wheel problem

Thumbs down

Mikkel, Good wheels should not do this! If you have the opportunity, see if you wheels are turning with no runout, like a warped rotor does. You could mount the wheels on the back and lift the backend. Let the engine turn the wheel at moderate rpm and check for trueness, like a bike rim. It could also be the tires. Sometimes you get a bad one that can't be balanced. As far as this balancing on the car stuff, It sound like an effort in futility. Should'nt have to be this hard!
