G-50 Transmission

Hello,
Can any body tell me how to identify a G-50 transmission or what the part number is ? Thanks in Advance

Well, the thing is huge compared to others. I think you'd notice that before anything else. Is it in the car? The rear torsion bars will be short and you can see the difference in the torque tube. Sorry, I don't have the numbers right at hand.

Easiest way is to look for the hydraulic slave cylinder on top of the tranny. You can see it from the driver's side wheel well. If you don't see a large "C" shaped spring on the bottom, with a cable attached to it, you probably have a G50.

FYI, it helps to add the details about you car to your signature, so folks who have similar models can help.


edit: Milt's way is quicker; the G50 torsion bar tubes extend almost out to the round cover in the rocker panel.

If it's in the car: reverse gear on top left, larger torsion bar covers...
Part number starts with 950.

Thanks to all, your help is greatly appreciated...BTW I have a 97 993 C2s red/blk with 28k miles and a few mods,,if this a G-50 I will be selling it onec again thanks

A stock US, '97, C2S will have a G50/20

All 993 came with a G50 (or G64, the 4wd variant). What do you expect to be in there?
