Did they change the top of the Bilstein shocks?

'78 911SC Targa

I'm replacing the ball joints and shocks. The old and new shocks are different at the top. The old ones are basically flat at the base of the stud and the new ones have a step at the base of the stud. The new ones fit in the top strut cover without rocking, at least by a casual check by hand.

New one is on the top.

The part numbers on the shocks are different, but I the new one are HD and the old are stock (I believe).
Old: 6235001H000
New: 4306R365001HO

What do you think? Can I install the new ones?

Thanks,
Mike
