Targa Front 'Catch' Adjustment
I know, there are a million threads on Targa Top issues. I've certainly read a bunch, but have a specific question I can't seem to find the answer to.
Car is an 89. Looking at the top and how it mates up to the windshield frame on the left and right, there is a difference. The driver's side top is a bit higher than the windshield frame, possibly causind wind noise from 'scooping' some air. The passenger side is flush and there is no noise there. Can you vertically adjust the catches - in my case to lower the top on that side? Is it a matter of just loosening a couple of bolts and sliding the catch up a bit? I don't want to start messing with it without a little guidance. thanks |

I have a Porsche Service School pdf on targa top repair that might cover it. I dont know how I would upload it but I think I downloaded it from a link on this forum. Maybe someone knows the link. It looks very detailed.

Yes...the roller latches on the later Targa tops can be adjusted for a tighter fit with the windshield header. The bolts that attach the latches pass thru slotted holes in the Targa top frame to allow some up & down movement of the latch. There are three of these bolts for each latch and they are visible on the front of the frame, right near the rollers. Just loosen them and move the latch up to draw the top down tighter onto the windshield header. Making this adjustment completely eliminated the wind noise on my '89 Targa.

How about earlier targa tops, are the latches adjustable?

Good question, and a great choice of car! PM me your email address and I'll send you the Targa top adjustment manual.
Cheers, Paul.
