Thumbs up Mobile PPI Los Angeles???

Hey There, Im looking at a 1985 euro spec 911 Carrera that is located in Beverly Hills.

The Owner recently passed away and his widow is selling it. Her friend is helping her out.

My problem is she wont let me take the car to have it inspected and the person helping her is busy during the daytime.

I have a 1000 dollar deposit for them to hold the car until Friday. Someone else is waiting to pick it up if I do not.

Car has 77k miles, was serviced at Beverly Hills Porsche, Has records from 1990 when it was imported.

Carfax is clean, Car runs smooth and good.

It seems like a really good car I'd just like to get a 2nd opinion as I will be new to the Porsche world.

Does anyone know or have any suggestions of someone that could do a mobile inspection in the Los angeles area? I will pay cash. If I could have someone that has experience come take a look/drive it and let me know there thoughts it would be greatly appreciated.

Please dont hesitate to call 801.712.7757 or send me an email codycomrie@gmail.com

Thanks so much!

If you cannot find anybody else before Friday I could visit the car in Beverly Hills. I live within a few miles from there but I am not a mechanic. But I have had Porsches since 1968 and did some work on them. Presently I am driving my original 79 Targa with only 50k miles onit. It does run perfectly. If the owner lets me I could drive it to TRE, about 10 miles from here, or any other good Porsche shop for inspection. I am sending you a PM with my e-mail address and contact information

Buy it. Sounds like a no stories low mileage car. It will have some fixes needed because it has been sitting. But the 3.2 market is smoking hot. Sometimes you have to shoot from the hip and skip the PPI. That is what I would do. Friday is a long time and there are people out there who might bid the car up and change the widow's mind, deposit or no deposit.
Read this thread and then think about what I am suggesting:
Is the SC/3.2 market especially crazed right now?

I agree with this. If it drives straight, brakes hard, and doesn't have any readily apparent problems with the way the engine accelerates and there is no obvious signs of significant body/paint work, just run with it.

Cody,
I may be able to perform a PPI for you. I'm not far from BH, but remember a PPI in someones garage is nowhere near as comprehensive as a PPI done in the shop. I perform west coast PPI's for Sloan Motorcars regularly . I perform visual and photo inspection, as well as a road test when possible, I also use a surface thickness meter to check for repaint and body repair. Over 30 years in the Porsche business. My shop Red Line Service is right at Robertson Blvd. and the 10 freeway, very close to BH. Red Line opened in 1975, and most people will agree we are one of the finest Porsche repair shops in the U.S. We charge a flat rate for the inspection ( unless the car is a basket case and we stop early) plus travel time and mileage. Call the shop tomorrow if your interested 310-280-0700
