I'm a new owner. Have heard stories of "double dipping" starting in 1976, but only on floors. Have heard "double dipping" roofs (whole car?) started in 1977. Can someone simply tell me what years it started and for what body parts? THANKS!

Worried about rust, you should be, and the 2.7. Start looking at 78's

Zinc coating for the whole car started with the '76 model (so after September '75), but was applied to ALL cars only in mid '76.
Zinc coating of the floor pan only was sometime earlier ('74?) The problem is, that you usually cannot trace the real date of production. So be careful with an early '76 model. However, zinc is no guarantee for no rust!!! The 2.7 is an issue of course. Jens '76 2.7 with '73 body conversion |
