Can Pelican Ship Oil Across to Canada?
Can Pelican Parts ship oil via ground to Canada?
I would like to change the oil in the trans to Swepco 201 and have not been able to find it locally. Anyone know if it is a problem to get that stuff across the boarder? Thanks in advance!

I don't think it should be a problem to ship it across the border, but perhaps a fellow Canuck can answer that. I just find it funny that with all the oil in Alberta, and a good portion of it shipped to the US, that you need to import oil.
![]() ps, spent many a winter up in Ft. McMurray freezing in 40 below temps making oil from tar sands.

It is kind of funny isn't it? Oh well, I am sitting here with my credit card in my hand waiting for an answer!!! Isn't Ft. Mac a beautiful place? I guess you can see the tailings ponds from space...
I should mention I am would like to ship it UPS ground. I know it will take a while but the car isn't going anywhere soon...

Was it shipped UPS ground and were the customs brokerage fees reasonable?

Wow! 911 guys in the oilpatch! Who'd have thought.
I'm from MN, and the people here think they have Winter, you guys have Winter! I've been following Chris Hopkins/Oilsands Quest story for a few years, and have learned volumes about the oilsand business. Maybe the new road from Ft. Mac to LaLoche will be a nice twisy, smooth course to exercise the aircooleds! Best of luck up there.

About the brokerage fees, they do get a bit pricey, but what you can do is drive south of Calgary to the border, when you have time, right close to where you cross there is always a small gas station or a hardware store right close, and he will be the guy that will receive your packages, usually they will charge about $3.00 a box to handle. Essentially You use his address and your name for the shipping. You drive across the line and pick-up your packages, turn around and drive back to the border and you become your own broker, saves a bundle in shipping as the rates get crazy as soon as you cross the border, you save the brokerage fees, and you and the wife get to go for a nice drive, catch a dinner out maybe, you get the picture, she's happy, you get the parts. I do it all the time form our summer home in BC. If I am working up in Fort Mac I usually wait till just before I go home place a big order, then once I get home I drive and get it. Just to note, I have lived all over Western Canada and have yet to find a border crossing where there wasn't a fellow on the other side that was receiving packages. Just ask a few of the locals if you can't find him. It is a very lucrative CASH business for the guy. Always mountains of packages for Canada just waiting to be picked up.

Go to Bearing and Transmission (across from the Big Bucket carwash at Piegan Trail and Barlow) and they can order it for you. They got me a case that i split with a fellow Pelican a few years ago. If you don't want to go this way, I might be talked out a gallon that I still have.
I guess I should have read Fritz's reply before I replied...

Thanks guys for your help on this, I appreciate it.
I never considered having a mail drop across the boarder. I wonder if Coutts or Caraway would be a better deal? Caraway would be more of a fun drive!
