Post How fix leaks at oil-line thermostat?

On first startup of the 3.3+-liter twin-plugged, newly and proudly self-rebuilt engine in my restored '83 SC Coupe, everything went splendidly (once I got the bottom set of plugs correctly wired...) except for two tiny leaks where the oil lines to and from the engine and tank enter the thermostat in the right rear wheelwell. I have a set of the big, single-ended, special oil-line wrenches, and one of them will do fine to tighten the compression fitting closest to the outside of the car, but how on earth do you get a tool on the inside fitting?

Stephan

Stephan,

You have to tighten the inner one with the outer one taken off. Hope its not siezed. If you get it off, slop a bunch of anti-sieze on the threads before you put tighten them on.

Good Luck.
Nick.

my favorite tool is a snapon 1 7/16, 1/2" drive box style crowfoot (like a box end wrench with a split). use a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer and a 3/8 ratchet. you don't have to take the outer line off. the male and female faces of the hose and t/stat do the sealing. they just have to be tight. sealer on the threads does nothing for this job.
