Dallas engine tear down get together - Saturday 11/18

Hey guys, this Saturday, I'm going to start tearing into a 2.2E motor for a rebuild evaluation. Any of you who are interested in coming by, shoot me a PM or email and I'll get you my address.

This motor is out of a 1970E and is complete with the original MFI. It had been sitting for several years and is locked up so I've been soaking the jugs with Aero Kroil. I've never torn one of these down before, so any of you with experience are welcome to to swing by and lend a hand or just watch me bust knuckles. I'm in east Dallas on the east side of White Rock Lake. Ya'll come!

What's the objective with the engine...is this just an autopsy, or do you have "evil" plans?

John,
Undecided so far. Need to see if the bottom end is still usable. I assume the P&C's are toast and will require replacement. If the Gods smile and they're OK, I'll bore them and get new P's. If not, I'll see what options are available - 2.4, 2.5 maybe. I want to keep the MFI and match cams to the final configuration. Nothing crazy, but a rev happy, reliable street motor. I have the 901/911 tranny as well and will tear that apart later. Don't have a car to put it in.....yet.

...and hear I've been looking for a freshly rebuilt MFI equipped, rev-happy 2.2L - 2.5L motor for my '69 T Hot Rod project car!

Will you build it to my spec's??? I would really prefer a short stroke 2.5L just like cegerer's. Short gear the tranny too. Is that a 5 speed 901? Sweet.

I've got a nice little 2.0L 'T' motor w/ Webbers and a 4 speed 901 to barter with! Oh, and a slightly used '87 Carrera Targa.

Remember who found you a buyer for Mary Ann? Do a bro right man...
