Heater hoses. Looks like yours was capped off. Look in the lower left of your picture (yellow car), you can can see a hose clamp to the left of the distributer. You need them if you want heat in the winter.

Did you install the "cold air intake"? The flexible hose from the intake to the rear lid.

BTW, you'd need the heater blower for the engine compartment as well.

Look to the right of the fan on the side, there should be two sets of numbers. The engine number will be on a vlightly vertical part of the fan casting and the engine type should be on top of the engine just to the right of the engine serial number. Depending on the year of the engine the number will vary but should start with 6xx xxxx. the engine type will look like this: 911/xx
(substitute x's for actual numbers. there are too many variants to list)

Check this thread for photo's of engine number and type locations. Urgent Help 2.7 or 3.0 THANKS

The green fiberglas shroud (forward of the fan) is indicative a 2.7; 3.0 engines have a red shroud. However the the metal fuel injector lines are typical for a 3.0; so it could be a "Frankenstein" engine - a mixture of parts from various years.

Wrong numbers. Look at the right side of the fan housing down by the small oil line. There should be a stamped number not a casting number.

According to my Red Book it's a 82 3.0l. Look to see if it's stamped 930/16 also.

According to the Bentley Repair Manual:

1982: 930/16, 64C0001-on. is a 3.0L CIS Engine

These numbers are VERY important when replacing parts etc.
The good news is this is a pretty good engine from the factory, you need to check for oil lines going down into each Cam Chain Housing. You want to make sure you have the Carrera Tensioner upgrade

Looks like you have the backdate/turbo heater outlet on the driver side of the engine, but I can't tell what's on the passenger side as the AC bracket is in the way. Do a search on "heater backdate" for a better understanding, but basically this setup allows you to have heat without the electric blower. The air is forced by the engine fan. The long duct that runs across the engine bay is not necessary with this setup.
