Seems like it would not be hard to make a mini heat exchanger by making a tube or box around only the secondary pipe. There is lots of room.
Some one could even make up a kit. Another idea would be the have the secondary pipe turn further away from the motor and add a sport cat to each side. Optionally, could add a mini heat exchanger to the side or off the end of the cats. Purrrrrrfict. ]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/cat.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/cat.gif |
The OBX headers are the same inner width as the Euro pipes on 3.2 ROW / Euro engines, correct? If so, there is really no benefit going with the OBX headers, correct?
TIA, Scott |
doesn't the Euro 3.2 have the pipe that runs back by the transmission... OBX is like a backdated 911 header... if that is the case you gain not having a messed up and long exhaust path...at least on the one side.

New Thread?
I keep coming back here thinking someone's posted about SW chips, but it seems to be about exhausts, and has been for quite some time now.:)

Incorrect... If that were actually true, the Euro exhaust manifolds would be highly sought after... |
Factory Euro/USA heat exchangers (same-same)are larger than SSI's in side. I think the OBX headers are biger inside yet but not sure.
SSI's and the OBX have equal length primary tubes. The SSI's I belive have a sweet spot aroung 2500rpm's on a 3.2 where they are very efficent. Factory heat exchangers are not really a problem, it is mostly the Cat that is. Take off the cat and you should get close to Euro HP numbers. Euro just has a bit more compression. If both are chiped for US fuel, the US should be as fast. At least that is what I want to belive. |
