Steve Wong (911chips.com) is THE MAN!

As a long time believer and very satisfied customer of SW Chips, I took it another step further... After adding OBX 1-5/8" Stainless Headers, and a 2 in/ 2 out Dynamax Ultra-Flow Muffler (17276) I contacted Steve and we met at a Dyno Shop where he custom mapped a new chip for my new exhaust set up. WOW!!! What a difference! The end result is 208hp at the rear wheel, which equals 244.7hp at the engine! The 3.2 motor is stock with the exception of the exhaust & chip.
Base numbers with the new exhaust installed:

SW Chip for stock exhaust: 226.5hp
SW Chip for headers: 231hp
SW Chip Custom mapped on dyno: 244.75hp

Wow!! Damn, man. You're starting to make me want to change my tune about the headers and no heat.

Congrats Patrick! Roughly 20% more than the stock 207 at the flywheel advertised by Porsche.

I must add that Patrick's car sounds extremely good, and runs extremely smoothly from idle up thru rev range. I'd say it is running as good as a 911 can!!

His Dynomax is a lot quiter than the Flowmaster. I cannot wait to get moved to SoCal, so I can also employ Mr. Wong's skills in setting my chip from him up exactly as it should be, particularly with my new cams.

I'll have to wait for Mr. Wong to come to Hawaii to have his touch on my chip!
His chip is the only chip mentioned worth getting at BA's class.

I plan on installing a set of TRE headers soon, and ordered SW's chip for a custom exhaust. However, I'm not sure this will have the same out put as my car on a dyno with Steve at the controls doing some massage work.

He spent a few ours with the car on our dyno and got us 20 more hp

The headers look great in the photos. How did they fit up? I put a set of OBX headers on my wife's MINI, and they seemed to have good quality. Did Steve have any comments about them, or whether they added hp or not? I wonder how they compare to European Racing Headers.

It just shows the added benefit of a chip that is custom mapped for your own car. Every car is a little bit different, and Steve is able to maximize what you have.
As you can see from the numbers I posted above, Steve was able to squeeze out an extra 14hp over what his header chip was able to do! This thing pulls like a freight train all the way to redline now!

My 88 Targa with a SW chip, Monty muffler (1 in/one out, 75 mm tailpipe), cat bypass, lightened flywheel and clutch by Chris Powell, checked out at 206.8 RWHP on Alex Racz's Dynojet (Carburetor & Fuel injection Connection, Kirkland, WA). I can't imagine a more enjoyable ride. Wouldn't trade it for any 964 or 993. At age 77+, I still get a thrill out of driving it!

I'm waiting for the flames... OBX are a Chinese knock off of the Euro Headers ($350 a pair.). My thoughts were to try them out, and if they break, put some Euro Headers on later... Dynamax Muffler was $180.

So far so good... I've put about 500 miles on them, 150 of that at full throttle at a Willow Springs DE. No cracks, no problems! I was a bit hesitant at first, but my mechanic talked me into them. They are stainless steel, excellent welds, thick flat flanges, and they appear to be very good quality. Good collectors, and no weld slag on the insides.

Steve was impressed, and said it was one of the cleaner installs he has seen in a long time. He felt that the headers helped, but more importantly the free flowing muffler. I have multiple close up photos of the headers. PM your regular Email if you would like me to send more pics.

Is that with a stock exhaust manifold too? Absolutely awesome!!!

Yes it is with the stock manifolds/heat exchangers. Couldn't get by without heat up here in Seattle.

Compact oil cooler I purchased about 6 years ago for ~$225. That in combination with a cooler scoop up front drops the oil temp about 25 degrees in hot weather!

Didn't measure the OD. The ID where the manifold meets the head is 1-5/8".
Where the collector dumps out, I think the ID is 2". If you check out the earlier picture posted, you can see where the extension adapts to a 2-1/2" pipe into the muffler.
