Sport Muffler modification

Took the plunge and lopped off about 6" of tailpipes from the dual out sport muffler this afternoon. Cut them off even with the bumperettes which left about 5 1/4" (an unfortunately familiar length) on each of the pipes.

Sound???? Amazingly the car is a little more quiet than before. It seems to have a sweeter, more homologous tone, not becoming raspy until reaching a higher rpm.

Anyone know why they made the pipes so long in the first place?

Mark

I'm not sure but I think it was to clear the rear bodywork on the RSR and 914/6 GT monsters...

If that's not it, then I really have no clue -- they are so long it is a hazard for people walking behind the car!
