Oil does not drain back into engine.

I have an original 1974 Porsche 911. The car is parked for days, the oil stays in the oil tank and does not drain into the engine.
There is no blockage at the big oil hoses and metal line.

Is that normal??

thanks, Harold

Yes. On a dry sump system almost all of it will be in the tank.

A quart or so will stay in the engine. Also a bit in the lines an oil cooler.

loose engines with extra clearance (wear) in the oil pump and crankshaft bearings transfer oil faster than tight engines do.
