I assume you are talking of one of the bare wires inside the sender, on which a slider slides?

You may be SOL. Basically no one rebuilds these fuel senders. Those that have tried and written about it have reported, at most, very short term success, and ultimate failure.

Buy a new sender, or a used one that still works.

But maybe some determined soul here has disassembled a sender and measured the resistance (and diameter) of the wire. There are a lot of souls here, some quite determined when so moved. One less than there used to be, alas.
