I took off the front wheels today of my new '86 factory wide-body. The car has GOTTI 3-piece wheels. When I examined both rims I found that the inner rim halves are different shaped. They're both the same width (I think, until I take the tires off) so it's only the shape(the different creases and angles). Will this have any left to right effect? I can't seem to find gotti's website so I can order two similiar halves. Will other manufacturer's halves work? Which ones? Any ideas?

In my search I found that Gotti is under Ronal rule now. And NO you can't get parts for them any longer. Do you think it's okay to keep the wheels or maybe bite the bullet and start searching for some 17" RUF wheels. I heard they're really heavy?

The Ruf wheels are indeed very heavy although they look extremely good. Buying new wheels is not an easy task... Either it'll be very expensive or you'll end up not being satisfied - I learned this the hard (and costly) way.

I just bought a set of 17" RUF wheels (used). Today I had the tires removed in order to refinish the clear coat on the outer lip. They are indeed heavy. I cannot tell you whether they are heavier than other 17" wheels, but they certainly weight more than my 16" fuchs.
Weight aside, they look great. ------------------ Dan Tolley 1987 911 Coupe |
