Does anyone have a part number for the fan/alternator belt for a 1983 911sc. Trying to install a new belt today I could not get the tension correct even with all seven shims to the outside of the assembly. I believe the dealer may have sold me the wrong part. It's number is 999.192.097.50. This number does not jive with the P/N in the Automotion catalog and their PN's are usually pretty accurate.
Thanks |

Rich,
That is indeed the wrong belt, a 9.5 mm x 725 mm size for '76-'79 models. What you need is a 9.5 mm x 710 mm size. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

My latest spare is a Continental brand with notches on the inside, and is a 10 mm x 710 mm, and carries the p.n. 999.192.176.50. I'm pretty sure the width change from 9.5 mm to 10 mm doesn't make any difference.

The belt on my 78 911Sc is 10x710, and it fits fine with three spacers on the outside of pulley, the rest on belt side. I too was sold the 10x725, lucky it was a backup that I never needed.
