Mitch Leland 01-04-2008 01:25 PM

Congratulations,

Nice looking car, even down to the steering wheel being on the "right" side... How about some pixs of the engine room and interior.

billybek 01-04-2008 01:31 PM

Looks great! Welcome!

Car Guru 01-04-2008 01:36 PM

Beautiful car, I'm jealous if I had a coupe I would want one just like that.

The cloth on the drivers seat is very grubby and I have tried cleaning it with some improvement. I am thinking of replacing the cloth with Alcantara or leather but I am in two minds because it takes from the originality of the car. What should I do?

livi 01-04-2008 01:54 PM

Welcome!

Great to see yet another European on the board! Like Swedes, there are not many Irish members. What color is that? I really like the interior. Your plate say England - don´t you have Ireland plates, or is it an import?

Mitch Leland 01-04-2008 01:57 PM

Dan,

I don't know this, but I would first be sure the cloth is original to your car, then find out if you can duplicate it, then make your decision. From the pixs it looks like the rear seats are of a different material than the front?

See ya,

SCWDP911 01-04-2008 02:00 PM

Nice SC. Join the plot. Muhahahaaaaaaaa!SmileWavy

Hi The Colour is Mocha Black, I believe Porsche have since renamed the colour Mocha Brown. The Car looks black until you get close and you then see its a very dark brown. Yes the plates ay England as I have just imported the car I am waiting on customs &excise to get back to me with the cost of registration which i expect to be circa €3000. then I hope to get a nice registration number like ZV 6911

livi 01-04-2008 02:18 PM

3k !! I have read about the hideous registration fees but that is ridiculous. Why is it that expensive?

I know its a joke, when we (Ireland)joined europe import duty from european countries was abolished, the government in their wisdom decided they would rename import duty Vehicle registration tax to getand so I must pay the VRT or break the law. If I had bought a car over 30 years old it would have cost me about 10% of that figure and a mere €40 per year in road tax. Road tax at the moment for said car is wait for it €1100 per year..
So roll on august 2010 when my car reaches its 30th Birthday!!!

I am pretty sure that this is the original fabric as I have seen a couple of Black interior 911s were the front seats were half leather with white pinstripe and the rear seats were full black leather. I havent yet seen any cars with an interior identical to this.

Buckterrier 01-04-2008 02:56 PM

Welcome danoli, beautiful car. Mine is named Silin, Gaelic for cherry .

williecoyote 01-04-2008 03:16 PM

An arm, a leg AND an option on a vital organ in good condition...

Always makes us chortle heartily to hear Americans complaining bitterly about gas @ $3.40 US per gallon.

Premium gas (for my 930) is about 1.05 GBP per litre in the UK. There's roughly four of those to a US gallon (because you guys are still using weights and measures from the Jacobian era), so, given the current rate of exchange that's $8.40 US dollars per (US) gallon. Been somewhere around that price for years and years.

To put that in perspective, I'll fill the tank at 1/4 full and put 60 GBP ($120 US) of gas in it.

Given how "car-friendly" the Irish government appear to be, I'd be surprised if gas was cheaper there.

suntoys 01-05-2008 03:27 AM

Congrats and heres to creating many road memories :)

Yes Unimog they were stock for 79.

€1.10 per litre on average at the moment so it cost me €80euro to fill the tank. so we are almost 30p a litre cheaper than uk prices

3.2 cab: you are right paint code is 451 according to the log book .re the black/white pinstripe #999 551 039 40, cheers any ideas were i might find the cloth?,

Cheers for the replies guys

yow...that is $160 here. Could happen someday I suppose.

3.2 CAB 01-05-2008 04:31 PM

It appears that Pelican shows an updated part number for that fabric: TPB000000007BN. Hopefully this will possibly be a good start on finding the fabric.

MT930 01-05-2008 04:48 PM

Cheers,

She's a beauty. Love that color. Welcome to the madness!

PS - I would consider all vinyl or leather oem type seat covers for both seats. It will really transform the interior, giving you that new car feel.

Cheers Bob thats a great suggestion and I think its the way to go as I will never be able to get the original fabric clean enough.

Yes Its my first Porsche and after sixteen years of wanting one I am so delighted I own it. However I drive about 800 miles a week in my VW passat and want to drive the porsche for every one of those miles.
