CIS injectors
How do you remove the CIS injectors on a 1980 911 sc from the spyder? Correction (intake manifold) or spider for the old 928's
|
Brad, I know the 550 Spyder had carbs the Boxster Spyder doesn't have CIS and the race car "Spyder" also doesn't have CIS
Are you asking about your SC? I believe they pull straight out and are held in place via an "O" ring. (If I'm wrong, someone will chime in) |
I am calling the intake runners a spider. That what we call it on the old 928's

CIS Injector Puller Gadgets.....
Brad,
CIS injectors are sometimes very stubborn and difficult to remove. And you need good grip and leverage to pull them out. There are many kinds of tools you can employ and just use what works for you. My home-made injector pullers. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1199639257.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1199639294.jpg Tony |
Do a search under "Injector removal" or "Intake runners"; lots of info on removing with the help of WD-40 plus 2 wrenches, prying straight up.
Been covered many times, but not under: "Spyder" or "Spider" :) |
My injector removal tool straight from the tool box. 12 mm crow's foot for 3/8" drive, 6" long 3/8" extension, and a 12 mm open end wrench as a spacer.

i have the tool similar to tony's. that L-shaped bracket. the only time i removed the injectors, on my 75 car, i used the tool. i attached a length of nylon strap to the tool, so i could use it as a wrist-strap. if i stood over the injector, i could just jerk it out. oh, wear leather gloves. none resisted very much. jim's method looks more refined, and much less of a knuckle buster. i like it!
