EFI Injectors In Head

Can you mount EFI injectors in the head like MFI injectors or will it be too hot? or anyother problems with doing this?

Steve

The MFI injector ports are too long and the spray pattern of EFI injectors will hit the walls of the injector bores. There are newer smaller EFI injectors that I am not familiar that might work better, but I'm sure you would need to heavily mod the heads.

Even the ports in 911 heads are kind of deep and difficult to get a good spray angle into using conventional manifild injector positions.

Steve, I assume you're familiar w/this thread?
Advice on EFI injector to replace MFI

I am very curious about this topic myself as I am planning on replacing my CIS in the next months - and happen to have a complete MFI system.

Love your car and the rebuild thread, BTW.

cheers,
Steve

Unfortunately we never heard some details on that thread, such as what injectors are long-nosed enough to work in the EFI heads. The author states he used "blue top injectors made for the Ford Mustang V8". Anyone familiar with these injectors?

When I am back in country, getting some kind of EFI system together for my 72 E is a possible route. Any info is useful.

I am using blue top ford injectors which are 24 lb/hr high impedance. These fit my horse power needs well and can still idle well. I would suspect that heat soak from the heads would cause issues with the injectors. I went with the 3.2 carrera polymer isolators and intake manifold to optimize spray pattern and decrease heat soak.
