Question Rear View Mirror

I got a little carried away with the Windex and paper towels, and knocked my rear view mirror off the windshield...duh! This was on my '84 Carrera, so I guess the old glue was loosing adhesion.

Question: What is the recommended glue/epoxy for re-installing my mirror, and suggestions where I can buy the stuff? Also, should I remove the old glue from the windshield before re-installing the mirror?

Thanks, Bruce

Any autoparts store, Kmart, Walmart all have the glue you need. Scrape off old glue with a razor blade, clean glass with a little lacquer thinner and you are ready to reglue the mirror.

Easy fix!
1st step> on the outside of your windshield mark the area where the mirror goes.
Then take a new razor blade and remove the old glue.
You can buy a repair kit at any auto parts that has the special glass glue, about $3.00
Then just follow the simple directions and done.

don't try to glue the whole mirror on. remove the mounting tab and just glue that on. hold it with duct tape til it sets. same goes for the earlier large base mirrors. on those it's important to block off the screw hole with a small piece of tape. if the glue gets into the threads you're screwed.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Sounds like my local Pep Boys or Wal-Mart will have what I need.
