This is the flow diagram I am looking at:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_82SC_Part5-1.jpg Looking at the tach it has 4 terminals on the back. TD + TD - I see the Black/purple wire on the Flow diagram going to the Tach but not sure where it plugs into... How do I compare the physical Tach to the diagram... Do not see the corelation between the Tach and the diagram. What do the Circles represent some have arrows in them and some have 'X's. Same on the oil pressure gauge... I have the green/red wire that comes from the sensor but cannot figure out where it connects on the gauge from the diagram. Need Help ------------------

Joe, the wiring diagrams for your 84 Targa are different from the SC diagrams, but maybe it's the same for the tachometer. The tach itself is represented by the circle with the arrow inside. It has three connections:
+ (red/black) must read 12 Volts when the ignition is on - (brown) is wired to Ground TD (black/violet) is the signal from the ignition unit in the engine compartment. On SC's with an electronic rev. limiter, a second cable (white/red) is also connected to TD (my SC doesn't have it). If your tach has two terminals for TD, they should be the same. The circles with the X's inside represent the tach illumination and the blue high beam light. ------------------ Robert / 80 Targa |
