New member paranoia - please help!

I just posted "New member Signing On" with pics of my car. Member "Duke Zink" posted "Please fix the rear tail".

What does this mean? Any help?

Don't sweat it.

GREAT looking car. It is a bit odd to see the RSR-look items on a cabrio, but what the heck, that just makes it unique.

You'll find that this message board contains a great many highly opinionated folks. Some purists, some mod-happy, but 911 lovers all.

Some may intend a comment in irony or jokingly, but in print comments may come across more strident than intended.

While I question the utility & appearance of that tail on a cabrio, I wouldn't ever "order" anyone to "fix it".

FYI, I could also be misunderstanding the post - he might have seen something in the photo needing repair. But I don't know that much about RSR-style tails.

IMHO (and I emphasize that this is only an opinion, and is based more on appearance than function): newer coupes look good with a full tail, turbo or turbo-look with tea trays, targas with a duck tail, non-RSR-look older coupes with duck tail, and cabrios with no tail.

But then, I like German cars in silver, British in green, Italian in red, etc. But my '87 is black/black...oh well.

Welcome, good luck & have fun.

Thanks !!!

I guess I am learning how the site works. Thanks for the advice.

I should hesitate in telling everyone that it has headers and twin glass packs...that might start a whole new thread.

One of our members has headers and a Flowmaster, it sounds badass but some traditionalists might freak that it's not a Dansk. The results are pretty cool but everyone has an opinion. I think the comment on your tail was in regard to the extra flaps attached to the tail, they probably add more drag than they are worth but if you like the look then rock it.

If you like the tail, that's all that matters.

Welcome aboard.

Tail looks fine to me, but then again, I have a tail on my cabriolet. If you like the flaps, keep them.

And yes, (regardless of what some here may say) even on a Cab, the tail does it's job, which is to help keep the tail down at speed.

Welcome to the board. You will pick up a ton of helpful information here. Don't let comments from some wisea$$ hiding behind his keyboard keep you from using this helpful resource.

Welcome aboard. This is a great source of info, comedy, and general weirdness. If you ask for help, you will get tons. If you ask for an opinion just be prepared. One great thing is that whatever your thing is, concourse, hot-rodding, appearance, general maintenance, body work, there are plenty of good people willing to lend a hand.

Don't Sweat it Fellow Targa with Tail.

It only matters what you think about your baby. The tail makes it unique.

BTW, what code of white paint is your baby, (color code in trunk passanger side)?

Warm Welcome Back Brother!

If one is going to have headers & glass packs, one might as well go 'whole hog'... Check these out:

V8 Conversion...
Small-Block Chevy V8 powered 911's

And there's at least one Subie-powered 911 out there, with an ex-SVX engine:

http://forums.rennlist.com > air/oil cooled > 911 > posting by kpaz 1/1/08: "Subaru powered 911 DRIVES!!!!"

Good examples of the diversity of approaches & opinions.
