Red face transmission not engaging

Has anyone had problems with the transmission on 911SC's not engaging? My 80 SC fisrt started not engaging when I shift from reverse to first the shifter would be in first position but the car would still be in reverse! Now I can only get the transmission in 5 and reversed but the shifter is not always in the right position for the selected gear. I have replaced the coupler and bushings but it's still the same. The transmission shifts smoothly there isn't any grinding or anything. Someone said the shift fork retaining bolts might have backed out but I'm not certain where they're located. Does anyone know a solution for this problem?

Funny how these things come in clusters! If you read the following thread, an answer is there ... and a diagram, too ... shift guide plate on forward, bottom location, four 13 mm hex nuts ... drain oil first!
