anyone know what this is worth

1965 912, a guy I work with owns this and wants to get rid of it. I was interested until I saw the pictures I have not seen it in person.

With all respect, what is it you plan do do with that mess?

I don't even think it worth the trouble to try to part it out. Walk away.

One picture looks like the car may have fuchs. If they are 15", then those and the engine core are probably the only things of value. Offer him to take it away for free--it's more trouble than the value of anything on the car.

Hey get out of my front yard!! I have an almost identical looking 71t in my front yard. My motor runs and my tranny is great. It has just been taking me a few years to complete it. Unless the owner was very meticulous in labeling everything you are in for a world of hurt. It will easilly cost you more than what you can buy a running one for. Unless it is a really rare modle like an s or e. I recenly got rid of a 912 that was a rust bucket that was running and 100% complete $1200.

Do you know if all of the missing parts are still there, in boxes or whatever? It almost looks like it has already been parted out. Could be a diamond in the very rough, with possibilities.

ossiblue, I think the wheels that you see are on a different car, the blue car used as a prop.

I hope the camera lens survived that torturous photo session. That is probably the only 912 in Graham, WA to go along with a lot of rusted American cars on blocks.

looks kinda like it's been soaking in battery acid...
the motor and transmission should be worth something.
the carb throats may be too corroded around the butterflys to ever idle right again.

I wouldn't take it. Even if it was free, if you added all the parts, time, material that it would take to make it whole, the cost would greater than if you bought a good conditioned 912.

Car = Free
Missing parts = lots
electrical = lots
rust repair = lots
paint = lots
interior = lots
engine = ? lots
transmission = ? lots

Take a pen to paper and estimate all of the repair costs, you might be shocked.

Spend you money on one that is in good/great condition. It would cost you less in the long run. (especially a 912)

The rule of thumb is a parts car is worth it's engine a core 912 engine will set you back 500-1200.00 depending on what's there and if it turns over......

Is it 4sp. or 5sp??

my .02 cents
