Hello everyone. I looked at a 91 C2 today. It is Tiptronic. My question is, how reliable are they? The car has 91k on it and are wondering what trouble lies ahead? Anything to look for especially?
Also, was the rear window wiper an option? This car did not have one. thanks Chris |

Hi Chris:
I have a tip in my '92 C2 and love it. If you look in last month's (?) issue of Pano, in the tech notes section Bruce Anderson states about the early '90s tiptronics that he "has been told by Porsche that it is one of their most reliable transmissions, with a minimum of problems" or something very close to that. Re the rear wiper, it was an option, at least in '92. HTH, Bob D. '92 C2 Tip Chicago |

For the most part, they appear to be extremely reliable. I don't own a tip as I have a C4, but when I was still searching for 911s I ran across one with a tip I did a little research (talked to several shops, web research, etc). About the only problem I could find is that some owners fail to change the fluids, and in doing so, particularly for long mileage intervals it can lead to problems (this is typical of any car, though). Make sure the fluids have been changed and do a PPI.
The rear window wiper was an option. Good Luck, Bill Wagner [This message has been edited by Bill Wagner (edited 04-01-2001).] |
