Euro Carrera W/ Two Chassis Number Stampings???
I got this car in trade from my buddy, T.C. Davis. He has posted it here before asking about it's history, but nothing was unearthed. I discovered today that the car has TWO chassis stampings...
1. The normal "*9114600350*" 2. The other, right above it reads "*0070020*" which are also the numbers stamped in the passenger knee pad area (a.k.a. - the 'secret' number) I have never seen this before and am hoping this extra info will help in knowing this car's history. I want to restore it for what it really is, or was. The car was brought over from Europe with the rollcage, metal rear flares, and no factory undercoating. T.C. had the cage modified to allow the use of stock metal doors, found a real factory Turbo Carrera tail, and hung the carbon fiber front end and rear bumper. The wheels are vintage Gotti's from an IMSA car. There is also a cool roof mounted two-way radio antenna (not shown in the photos). Anyone have any info or ideas? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The *9114600350* is the standard form for a ’74 911. The ‘6’ in the number indicates a RS or RSR. I don’t recognize the other number.
The standard form number doesn’t look original to my eye. I don’t see some items in the chassis that should be there if it is an original RS or RSR. Look at the underside if the stamped VINs and post what you see. Best, Grady

I sent an email to John Starkey asking him about this car. He thinks it is a factory Re body from 1977. I will need to get him some more information regarding the history of the car from TC, and he will work on coming up with more concrete info (for a fee). I will let you know what becomes of it. Another theory is that the second set of numbers are Kremer, or another similar team, assigned
Can someone who knows explain to me what it means to have a street car "re bodied" and why this would be done? Last edited by John Schaefer; 01-19-2008 at 08:05 AM.. |

The 6 Does Not Mean Rs Or Rsr, It Tells You It Was Made For The Euro Market.just As A 4 Means For The Us Market.

Re body means the old tub was damaged and you could buy a new shell and put the parts on it.
I think the 6 indicates Carrera. I know that in 75 through 77, the 6 did indicate Carrera. |

The number indicates that is indeed a Carrera ( chassis serial number of 911460001-9114601036). The RS's and RSR's were numbered 9114609001-9114609109. I have no clue about the hidden number.
