Assembling a 901 Box Question
The thin paper gaskets on either side of the intermediate plate, do you install dry?
The last time I used gasket cinch which was not a good idea. The gasket cinch actually ruined the gasket which in turn caused a leak. I realize that different thickness' of gasket is part of the measurement. |
yea those are thin and rip easy, Dry is good.

I agree - dry. The key is to make sure there aren't anydamage to the surfaces. Another is to inspect around the studs where the are in the main casting. Occasionally there is old sealant there that can interfere.
Only the gaskets between the intermediate plate and the main casting are shims. The gasket between the intermediate plate and the nose piece is just a gasket. Best, Grady |
i like a fine coating of K+W coppercoat spray, then let it dry real well before using. the joint surfaces probably are not perfectly flat like they were when new. thicker sealants will squeeze out and take the gasket with it.
