oil dipstick measurements to make a spare

After a recent bout of stupidity resulted in my replacing my oil dipstick (1983 car), I got to wondering about making a spare to have on hand should I ever revisit stupidville...

I would have thought something like this may have been covered before, but maybe due to the relative cheap factor on the cost of the sticks, it has not come up...

So, can anyone supply the actual measurements for a stock 83 oil dipstick?

The way I read your post you have replaced your old dipstick.
Just a thought I wonder where you can get a template to make your spare?
