How much camber for 225/50's in front?

As the topic says. My car currently set at about -1 or slightly more in front. Will that be enough? My very competent local guru says that's all he can get.

Will that be sufficient? Or do I need to get the fancy $cmancy upgraded camber plates when I finally find some used 21/28 hollow torision bars?

Thanks
Scott

As the driver, how does it feel to you? Are there any issues?

Cheers,

Joe

83 SC, 25" front height to fender opening, Koni sports, 21mm torsion bars, stock sways.

Fender lips cut and rolled. 1.2 - 1.3 degree of camber which is close to the max I can get.

225/50 Kumho 712 tires on 7" wheels with Fuchs offset.

I get a little rubbing very rarely on the tightest turns at autocrosses. On my car there was absolutely no way the tires would not rub without doing something to the fender lips, either cutting or rolling (or both).

Car feel

Joe,

The car is balanced well (19 torsions in front and 26 in rear). Just looking for more stickiness in front.

I am leaning toward the "more rubber is better" school. I have 9's on the back with 245's, and the front is 7's currently shod in 205's. Going to run one more season on good "street" tires (probably the new Hankooks Z212's)

I've been running this whole year on the PPO's set up and tires, and am gleaning as much info as I can before spending the $$ on 225's for the front only to discover they won't work.

Are there any negatives to rolling the front fenders? Does it crack paint?

PPO did some home alignments. My tech said the rears were kinda out. The alignment was just re-set (sorry don't have all the numbers), and our next event is not until mid-January. I'll run that on the old tires so I have a basis for comparison.

There ya have it.

I run 225s on mine and I had to roll the drivers side a lot to get by. I used a ball bat and had no issues. If your concerned about the paint cracking use a blow drier and warm it up a bit before rolling and don't do it outside in cold weather. As for the camber I don't even have negative camber right now but that is all to change this winter.

I am going to bigger Tbars and the like.

Jerry,

What camber is set up front on your car, and are you lowered? Mine is lowered a bit.

Cheers

How do you use the car? Sounds like a street car. What kind of tires?

Mostly autox and track

Chuck and others,
Nope, mostly auto x and track days. Some pleasure driving and date nights, but of the 4000 miles I put on the car last year, most was getting to or from a track or auto x event.

tires

Chuck,
Currently some street Kumho's. Fronts are 205/55 on a 16. Looking at the Hankook Ventus Z-212's as replacement in 225/50's.

After another year of streets, I'll go to a DOT R compound, probably RA-1's on this lighter car.

Thanks
Scott
