Post Mounting Euro License Plate?

Hi everyone,

Now that the CIS stuff is almost behind me, I'm moving on to more "enjoyable" things. I have a Euro version car, and have a Euro plate for the front, but no brackets of any kind. I notice the holes in the valance are pretty widely spaced, and with the curvature, it would require a bracket that extends away from the valance.

Any advice on mounting this plate?

Thanks!

I just installed a euro plate on my sc. I just centered the plate with holes in the valence, drilled the plate mounted it using 1" long screws and 1/2" spacers behind the plate. You might not want to drill the plate, I have seen mounting brackets somewhere for euro plates Ill look and see If I can find where I saw it..TargaEuro

If you don't mind my asking, what did you use for the spacers?

Near my garage is a industial supply hardware store. The place is nut and bolt heaven. They had an assortment of different size round plastic spacers. You can check your local store, even Home Depot or Lowe's depending where you live. My garage is in Ma. I would have prefered stainless spacers but I couldnt find any. Drilling through the plate seems common, I see it done on cars in 911 and Porsche World Magazine. It actually looks decent..TargaEuro

Speaking of mounting license plates, has anyone here removed the front license plate bracket?

I have a 1988 coupe and it looks like if I remove the bracket, I'll be left with a couple of holes. This doesn't seem real attractive to me.

What have others done?

The US and Euro models have the same valance (and two holes) but different licence plate brackets.
To use the existing holes in the valance and some sort of spacers is one way of doing it, I however would prefer a proper Euro bracket.

Question

Any idea where to find a real Euro bracket? I've searched the net 'till I'm blue in the face, and can't locate one.

Thanks!
