Where does this gnd cable go?
When I pulled my engine this cable wasn't attached at one end. The other end goes to the body side of the deck hinge. There is a similar one on the right side that goes from one side of the deck hinge to the other connecting the deck and body. Where does the left one go? Thanks.

It is the same as the right (goes from body to decklid).

Same as other side. It is indeed a ground strap.

Odd....I have the same thing on both sides and I just noticed the right side isn't attached on the hinge. The left side goes from the hinge to a bolt about 3 inches above where the strut rod mounts.
If I saw just one, I'd believe it's a ground strap but two straps? What on earth (pun intended) would need two big grounds on the decklid?

Both sides attached on my 89 coupe, at the points noted (that is, upper stud on hinge)
Best,

I would mention that my 89 has a whale tail...maybe it does have to do with which tail design is used? (as to # of gound points.)
adelis makes a great point in terms of (neccessarily) redundant grounding schemes and the abilities that come with that approach (at least in the automotive world) .. Otherwise there exists other environments where this multiple grounding approach would be quite problematic,...loops and such Best,
