That is wild. I would really like to hear the story surrounding these cars being put in storage for so long, and why.

I love this stuff. Those crusty old photos really are great! I am so glad to see that they will be on the block and hopefully brought back to life.
Wow! I just love a good barn story. Jw |

wow. brings back childhood memories... my father had a gorgeous california spyder when i was in the 2nd grade. it was the exact car that was shown at the new york auto show about 20 years earlier when it was introduced. the car was painted gold, and was adorned with gold-painted girls on a rotating platform at the show. dad bought it and completed the restoration on it. selling it is still to this day his biggest regret in life...
the car in the middle is a 275gtb short nose, a 2 cam version. dad had one of those, too, when i was 6. he used to take me 'racing' against a buddy, who had a daytona spyder in the beautiful twisting roads of upstate ny. i'll never forget the sounds and smells of those cars. .... ------------------ Adam Nitti ajnitti@mindspring.com www.adamnitti.com '85 911 Carrera Coupe PCA member, Peachstate region |

Man, this made my day...
Who's the guy who spray painted "I LOAN NOTHING' on the ceiling beam!? Its unfortunate that the ad is so poorly written and focuses more on the shed than the cars. Seller gives next to no information. There were only 42 SWB 250 GT Cal Spyders, and they have been selling in the $550-$700K range for Condition 1 cars, and going up in the past year. The 9 alloy bodied cars are probably worth a couple hundred grand more. As long as the reserve isn't insane, I'll bet it will be snapped up in a heartbeat. The Lusso has always been one of my favorite Ferraris, but the best one on earth is probably worth no more than $125K. Even if you could buy this one at 60-70K (and I doubt the reserve is that low) you would probably be waaaay underwater after cost to restore. But, what a gorgeous way to go broke. Thanks again for the post! |

Fascinating!
Makes you wonder how many more treasure troves are "out there". ------------------ Doug '81 SC Coupe (aka: "Blue Bomber") Canada West Region PCA members.home.net/zielke/911SC.htm |

There was an article in Panorama or Excellence last summer about a 57 Speedster that had been mechanically restored, but still had the original paint-all crazed and faded, with a patina of age. Cool!
If I owned the California Spyder, I would be tempted to try something like that. The 250GT scares me, since the engine is mostly in pieces on the floor. I still dream about stumbling upon a shed like this one! Roger Shadel 78 911SC |

I told you guys about the original owner Volvo P1800 that I've been considering. What I didn't tell you is that the same gentleman is the original owner of a completely (and I mean battery, tires, parkplugs, etc.) original Jaguar XKE roadster, vintage 1970, with under 10k miles on it and it's perfect.
I've asked a hundred times, and it's not for sale. Nor is the American Bantam Hollywood sitting next to it. I realize these aren't Californias and Lussos, but... |

![]() I, too, would love to hear the story-perhaps it goes something like this....A filthy rich recluse, once a dashing and daring young man who loved fine automobiles, but had a tragic accident that leaves him unable to drive, decides he just can't bear to part with his beloved Ferraris, so he has a bunker built to store them in. He finally heads off to the great pit stop in the sky, and his heirs unload the cars, not appreciating thier sentimental value,(but, are, I'm sure, aware of the monetary one). Or maybe the original owner was in the habit of just kinda forgetting where he parked his Ferrari, so rather than go find it, he just went out and bought another one, until he forgot about that one, too..etc. Just wondering. Hey, wait a minute...these things weren't posted on April 1st, were they? ------------------ Clay McGuill '66 912, '97 Jeep Cherokee www.geocities.com/the912guy |

Couldn't they have blown some dust off? Just a little? Looks like the cars have been started every few decades, not years!

What a terrible storage location. I must say the person who stored those cars there was terribly irresponsible or stupid. Look at the condition of the walls. Obviously there was heavy moisture and leaking in there. These cars seem rusty and rotted out which could have been avoided.

I wonder how long ago these beauties were stolen and stashed in this "cave" for safe keeping. I hope they run the VINs before buying. HA! I'm just jealous. But I've never won the lotto either.

I know you guys think I'm full of "it", but following my last post, I talked today to the relative of a co-worker (who is a PCA member somewhere in the USA) who has in his garage in what he termed "various states of disrepair" the following sports cars:
55 speedster-totally disassembled 57 A coupe 70 911S and, a Bugeye Sprite to boot. How about that? |

I can NOT believe that someone can neglect cars to that extent.... it should be a crime!
Especially on exotics like Ferraris and Porsches. ------------------ 1972 911S Targa ************************ My project! |

Just got the latest issue of "Automobile" magazine in the mail yesterday, and there in the "Non Sequitir" section is a photo of James 'In Like Flint" Coburn from the mid '60's. He's standing in front of his California Spyder and his Lusso.
Lusso is the wrong color, but the timing was an amusing coincidence. |
