911S distributor ID?
Hello Pelicanites,
I have a 914-6 that I'm rejuvinating, and I hit a road block tonight. I've been ticking off the list of tasks to be done this weekend. I R&R'd the Webers with a mini-rebuild, adjusted the valves, and a couple of other little things. Went to install the new points/rotor/cap I've had for a couple of weeks and the dang things wouldn't fit. Unfortunately I threw away the old cap a few weeks ago, which I'm guessing at this point may have been a mistake. It was getting pretty late, and I needed to clean up and get outta the garage, so I didn't pull the dizzy. But using an inspection mirror, I was able to read the numbers 0 231 159 002. I'm not entirely sure on the bolded part, but it from the last 45 mins of searching here I'm guessing that's correct. The plate is black, and there was a 050 in the upper left-hand corner of the plate. I'm guessing that would make this the 050 black plate 0 231 159 002 I saw referenced in a thread with a yellow plate 002. I know the engine has a few goodies in it, but not the exact details from searching, it looks like this is a 911S dizzy? Is that correct? If so from what year? P/N for cap and rotor? Thanks for any information. Adam |

0 231 159 002 is the distributor from a '67 911S.
Points are 2-piece part number: 901.602.960.03 I don't think the early caps are readily-available - you need to modify the later cap part number: 911.602.933.00

Is there a data dump somewhere on distributor part numbers and applications?
I am trying to find the part number for the correct distributor fpr a 2.4S or 2.7RS. Is 0 231 169 008 the distributor for a T or an S? What about 0 231 184 003? How about 0 231 184 004?

unclebilly:
The 2.4 distributors are: T: 0 231 169 003 T: 0 231 169 008 (73.5 T w CIS) E: 0 231 169 004 S: 0 231 169 005 RS: 0 231 169 011 I think the '169' changed at some point to reflect different orientation of the points, but the above numbers are from a Porsche spec book Regards, Andrew M
