converting to elect.speedo-any hints on wiring?

There are alot of things I didnt think out when putting this 78trans in my 71. Stub axles, clutch cable, and now.....the speedometer. Today I wired the module, and ran the two wires up to where the (newer) speedometer sits. THen I gave up. Can any of you tell me if you've done this conversion, and what it takes.ie.where these two wires go, and if I need hot/ground for any thing special on this speedo guage?????????

Frustrated and wanting to drive.....S in VA

No input, but since I'm about to do the same thing soon (79 tranny into a 72) I will be most interested in seeing what kind of input you'll get!

You mention "stub axles" - I'm not entirely sure of what you mean by that - drive shafts??
Don't tell me that I TOO have overlooked more things to change...

Thanks John.........Bo, I did mean drive shafts/axles. I recently found that the distance of the axles w/ c/v's on it is identical, but what is not is that the older axle has 2 shuffle pins and the bolts are VERY LARGE--so, with the 79 trans you will have to use a later style 78+ ? axle. I also upgraded my trailing arms--so the spindles are a match.........if you havent, you will have to at least get some spindles that will work. Also, The nose piece of the 78 trans pinched the lft rear brake line where it T's off !! BEFORE you put the trans in, be shure to unbolt that holding mount and move it towards the rt rear side. You do not want to have to pull everything becuase of that line...beleive me

Thanks for your tip on the brake-lines! I'll be sure to make that adjustment *before* trying to install it all.
About the drive-shafts; well, it is just another expense in the long, long line of unexpected expenses - but now that I'm in the middle of it, I can't start cutting corners.
Well, it's only money... http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/rolleyes.gif
