Post Intro and First Porshe

Hello All,

I've been involved with old BMW's for a while but recently acquired my first Porsche. I traded a BMW to a friend for an '81 Euro 930, 'Gunther'. The PO had bought it from a friend as well so it has a very well documentented history including every service receipt in the 4" thick file... Only 37K miles and interior and exterior are in fantastic condition.

Last year it was upgraded with a RUF intercooler, K27 turbo, and exhaust. A RUF 5-speed had previously been swapped for the factory unit.

It's a little 'new' for me as an '81 since I usually stick to early 70's for my german car addiction. I'm still not sure if it'll be a permanent member of the family but based on my experience with Gunther, I think I'll have a hard time not having a 911 of some sort in the garage. I'm hooked...

Here's a link:

Best,

Thomas

Beautiful car! Gunther will eat M3s for breakfast, I think.

Well, I didn't really pay for Gunther. Adopted is more accurate. Gunther came to live with us and Inga went to live with a friend. It seemed to be a good match as he's a concours nut while my tastes are more, shall we say 'visceral'?

Here'a a picture of Inga:

She's an excellent car with great style and finesse. Gunther has about as much finesse as an anvil. That's exactly what's so intoxicating...

Best,

Thomas

i, too am a lover of older bmw's. i just sold a pristine 3.0cs last year that my father and i restored together. it was a beautiful, high-class ride, but it didn't get anymore attention from me after i got my carrera...

Nice looking 930.

Nice looking BMW as well, but I really think you came out WAY ahead in the trade.

Welcome to a world of little spare cash, little spare time, declining marital relations! However on the BAD side, you can only fit in one stray girlfriend (comfortably)into your 911 at a time

Cheers
